The goal of CKS Builders LLC is straightforward: understand what the client wants to accomplish, explain what is realistically possible, and complete the work with care, honesty, and attention to how every part of the home comes together.
Although CKS Builders LLC was established in 2025, Steven brings 20 years of hands-on construction experience to every project. His background includes carpentry, remodeling, custom construction, crew leadership, framing, siding, windows, doors, interior trim, and detailed finish work.
Raised in the Trades
Construction has been part of Steven's life for as long as he can remember.
His father owned a painting business in Crested Butte, Colorado, which gave Steven an early introduction to job sites, skilled trades, crew management, and the work required to complete a project properly.
By the time Steven was approximately 18 years old, he was already running crews. After moving to Montana, he expanded his experience into carpentry and began working as an apprentice.
Steven later moved to Alaska, where he continued building his construction knowledge. He ran crews and worked on remodeling, custom construction, and residential building projects. These years gave him practical experience managing people, solving problems in the field, and understanding how different parts of a project need to come together.
After moving to the Olympic Peninsula, Steven joined a high-end homebuilder and spent approximately five years running crews and working on detailed residential projects. When that company eventually closed, Steven decided to take the experience he had built throughout his life and establish CKS Builders LLC.
A New Company Backed by Years of Experience
CKS Builders LLC may be a newer business, but Steven is not new to construction.
His experience includes work in different regions, with different crews, and across a wide range of residential projects. He has worked on complete custom homes, major remodels, structural layout changes, detailed trim, siding, windows, doors, and smaller carpentry projects.
That background is important because construction rarely goes exactly as it appears on paper.
Older homes may reveal unexpected framing, previous repairs, outdated systems, or structural conditions once demolition begins. New homes require coordination between plans, engineering, permits, site conditions, materials, subcontractors, and client decisions.
Steven's experience helps him understand how these pieces affect one another. He can look at a space, listen to what the client wants, and help determine how the idea may be turned into a practical construction plan.
